Bookkeeping for Orlando Mental Health Practices
Remote bookkeeping for therapists, counselors, and group practices in Orlando. Books kept current and tax-ready by Aretha Dirden.
Bookkeeping for Orlando Mental Health Practices
Orlando keeps growing, and the need for mental health care has grown right along with it. Clinicians here tell me the same thing again and again. The caseload is full, the waitlist is long, and the books are what slides to a weekend that never quite arrives. That is the part I take off your plate. Bookkeeping for therapists and other mental health professionals in private practice is all I do, and I do the work myself.
Before this, I spent more than 15 years as a licensed nurse working in mental health. So when you mention no-show patterns, sliding scale spots, supervision hours, or an EHR deposit that hit the bank three days late, none of that needs explaining to me. I work with practices from College Park and Maitland out to Lake Mary, Kissimmee, and Oviedo, all of it remotely, and you deal with me rather than a rotating team.
Monthly Bookkeeping
Monthly Bookkeeping
Transactions categorized, bank and credit card accounts reconciled, and reports short enough to read between sessions. Monthly bookkeeping starts at $165 and keeps your books current all year long.
Getting Current
Getting Current
Months or years of books that were never done get recorded and reconciled. Books that were done badly get reviewed, corrected, and reconciled account by account. Then we set a rhythm so it does not pile up again.
Payroll and 1099s
Payroll and 1099s
For practices whose payroll system is already running, I process every pay period so your team is paid right and on time. Year-end 1099s for contract associates, supervisors, and vendors are handled too.
Tax-Ready Records
Tax-Ready Records
I do not prepare returns. What I do is hand your tax preparer clean, reconciled books with documentation behind the numbers, so April stays quiet on your end.
Orlando Practices I Work With
Orlando is not one kind of practice town. Families keep moving into Central Florida, and the practices filling up fastest tend to be the ones seeing kids, teens, and couples. There are prescribers running medication management schedules in short appointment blocks. There are counselors doing recovery work with people who need them. There are group practices that started as one clinician in a rented room and now have three associates and a scheduler. Plenty of clinicians here also hold evening and weekend hours because so much of the local workforce is on shift schedules, and that shows up in the numbers.
Most of the practices I work with have somewhere between one and ten people. What they share is an owner who is very good at the clinical work and tired of guessing about the money. If that sounds like you, book a consultation with me and we can look at where your books stand and what it would take to get them current.
Family and Child Practices
Family and Child Practices
Practices seeing children, teens, and parents often juggle private pay, insurance payments, and reduced-fee spots in the same week. I reconcile what actually arrived in the bank against the work you delivered, so your monthly numbers match reality.
Telehealth Practices
Telehealth Practices
Online therapy practices run on subscription stacks and processor fees that quietly add up. Platform costs, EHR charges, and merchant payouts all get tracked and matched, and a remote bookkeeper fits an online practice naturally.
Group Practices
Group Practices
Once you add associates, the real question is whether the next hire pays for itself. I record compensation splits and salaries, keep W-2 staff and 1099 clinicians straight in the books, and report in a way that shows margin per clinician.
ABA and Behavioral Health
ABA and Behavioral Health
Central Florida has steady demand for ABA services, and those practices usually carry more staff and more session volume than anyone expects. Dependable payroll on an established system, contractor payments tracked, and revenue reconciled every month keeps a growing practice on solid footing.
Questions About This Area
You're in California and my practice is in Orlando. Does that actually work?
Yes. My work has been remote from the start. We connect your accounts, share documents through a secure portal, and talk by phone or video whenever you want to go over something. You work with me directly, the same person every month, whether your office is in Winter Park or Waterford Lakes.
What does monthly bookkeeping cost?
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $165 a month. Your price depends on how many accounts you have, how much activity runs through them, and whether you have staff. I give you a flat monthly number after we talk about your practice, so nothing about the bill catches you off guard.
My books are months behind. Where do we start?
Right where you are. If the books were never done, that is catch-up work and I record and reconcile the missing months. If they were done but the numbers cannot be trusted, that is clean-up work and I find the errors and fix them properly. There is no lecture from me either way. Falling behind while you are carrying a full caseload is about the most normal thing there is.
Is there anything you don't handle?
Yes, and I would rather say so up front. I do not prepare tax returns, though I keep your books ready for whoever does. I do not do insurance billing, claims, credentialing, or coding. And I run payroll for practices whose payroll system is already up and running, so I am not the person who builds a new system from scratch.
I have two associates and a scheduler. Can you run payroll?
If your payroll system is already set up, yes. I process each pay period so your clinicians and staff are paid on time and the payroll lands in the books correctly. At year end I also prepare 1099s for contract clinicians, supervisors, and vendors.

a Short Conversation
Tell me where your books stand right now, even if the honest answer is that nobody has looked at them in a year. I'll ask a few questions and give you a clear idea of how I can help.
