What I Do for Dallas Practices
I’m Aretha Dirden, and I keep the books for mental health practices around the country, including a good number in the Dallas area. Bookkeeping for mental health professionals is the only work I take on, so nobody has to explain to me what a no-show fee is, why one week of income looks nothing like the next, or how little room a full clinical schedule leaves for paperwork.

I don’t prepare tax returns. I keep your records clean all year so whoever prepares your return has what they need without a scramble in March. Year-end 1099s for associate clinicians, supervisors, and vendors are handled too.

Do you work with Dallas practices if you're based in California?
Yes. I'm in Lancaster, California, and I work remotely with practices in Dallas and all over the country. We talk by phone or video, you send documents securely, and the work happens the same way it would if my office were down the street from yours.
How much does bookkeeping cost?
Full-service monthly bookkeeping starts at $165 a month. Payroll starts at $150 a month for practices with an existing payroll system. Bill payment and invoicing start at $85 each. Catch-up and clean-up work is quoted per engagement after I look at what you have.
My books are almost two years behind. Is that a problem?
It happens more often than you would think, and it is fixable. I record the missing months, reconcile the accounts, and bring everything current without making you feel bad about how it got there. Then we move into monthly service so it stays current.
Do you file my tax return?
No, I do not prepare returns. What I do is keep your books accurate and organized all year so your tax preparer is working from clean records, and I am happy to answer their questions when they come up.
Do you handle insurance claims or billing?
No. Claims, credentialing, and coding stay with your biller or billing service. My side is the bookkeeping, which means recording the money that lands in your account, reconciling it, and showing you what the practice actually earned.
